Online booking and purchasing

Do I have to reserve my ticket before coming to the museum?

Buying your ticket online ensures your admission at the time stated on your ticket. However, you can also get your ticket at the ticket office without prior purchase.

Online ticketing 

I bought my ticket online but I won't be able to go to the museum, can I get a refund?

Tickets are not returnable or exchangeable, regardless of purchase channel.

I bought my ticket online but I haven't received any confirmation or my tickets, what should I do?

Check your spam/junk mail. If you don't find anything, contact the museum team by emailing contact(@)musee-marine.fr. Please state the first and last name used for the purchase, as well as the date, time and number of tickets purchased with the corresponding amount if possible.

What payment methods are accepted online and at the ticket office?

Online, you can only pay by credit card (except AMEX). At the ticket office, you can pay in cash, by credit card (except AMEX), cheque, culture voucher or ANCV holiday voucher (paper only).

Am I entitled to free admission? At a reduced rate?

Do I have to reserve my ticket before coming to the museum?

Buying your ticket online ensures your admission at the time stated on your ticket. However, you can also get your ticket at the ticket office without prior purchase.

You can also buy an Arsenal des Mers Pass giving access to the National Maritime Museum, the Corderie Royale and the Giant Periscope

Old Naval Medical School

Do I have to reserve my ticket before coming to the Old Naval Medical School?

Yes, reservation or purchase of a ticket online is mandatory as the site is only accessible for guided tours.

Can I access temporary exhibitions with my museum ticket?

Yes, admission to the Old Naval Medical School includes a visit to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

My arrival

I bought my ticket online, do I have to print it out?

Paper printing is not mandatory. However, you must be able to present your ticket (not the purchase confirmation) either on your mobile or on paper. The ticket must include a QR code or barcode.

Can I access temporary exhibitions with my museum ticket?

Yes, the museum ticket includes visits to permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

Are pets allowed in the museum?

Only guide dogs for the blind or visually impaired are allowed.

I’ve got a ticket for 3 p.m. but I'm late, can I come anyway?

Your ticket is valid for 1 hour after the beginning of the purchased timeslot; allowances may be made for the whole day. However, in the event of a large number of visitors, priority will be given to visitors who have a ticket for the correct slot.

Services

Is it possible to borrow audioguides?

The audioguide is 2€. Audioguides are picked up at the ticket office. Languages available are English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian.

Are pushchairs allowed in the museum? Can I come with a suitcase? Can I come on crutches?

Pushchairs are allowed if they are not too bulky. If so, pushchairs and baby carriers are available on loan at the museum's ticket office.

Crutches are allowed as well as rubber-tipped walking-sticks.

As the museum does not have a cloakroom, we ask you not to come with suitcases or bulky objects.

How long does the self-guided tour of the museum last?

Allow for an average of 1 hour to visit the whole museum (up to 2 hours if you follow the audioguide).

Is the museum accessible to people with reduced mobility?

The museum’s upper floors are not accessible to people with reduced mobility; only the ground floor is accessible.

Can we eat at the museum?

There are no restaurants on the museum grounds.

Can I access the shop without visiting the museum's collections?

Yes, the shop is located near the ticket office, outside the customs area. Please state that you only want to visit the shop when you arrive at the ticket office.

Is there a car park?

Yes, there’s a paying car park Place de la Gallissonnière. There are a few parking spaces in front of the museum, including 2 PRM spaces. Free spaces are available at Cours Roy Bry, a little further away from the museum.

Old Naval Medical School

Are pushchairs allowed in the museum? Can I come with a suitcase? Can I come on crutches?

Pushchairs are not allowed, as there are a great many stairs and no lifts.

Crutches are allowed as well as rubber-tipped walking-sticks. But remember that there are no lifts to the upper floors (2).

As the museum does not have a cloakroom, we ask you not to come with suitcases or bulky objects.

How long does the tour last?

It depends on which tour you’ve chosen. The "Essential" guided tour lasts 45 minutes, the "Health Officer" tour lasts 1.5 hours.

Is the Old Naval Medical School accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Unfortunately, the site is not accessible to PRMs.

Please note that guided tours are not recommended for people with mental disabilities due to the nature of the collections. Visits can be adapted; please contact the site at 05 46 99 59 57.

Can we eat at the Old Naval Medical School?

There is no restaurant.

Can I access the shop without visiting the Old Naval Medical School’s collections?

Yes, the shop is located near the ticket office, outside the customs area. Please state that you only want to visit the shop when you arrive at the ticket office.

Is there a car park?

Some free parking spaces are available in Place Amiral Meyer in front of the museum, and there are also paying spaces along Rue Denfert Rochereau. There is a free car park a little further away, Cours Roy Bry.

Groups

Reservation

What is the minimum and maximum number of members in a group?

A group must be made up of at least 15 people and can be up to 30 people, including accompanying persons.

Can I pay for my reservation after the visit?

Only public law entities can pay after the visit.

What time should I arrive for a group tour?

Groups are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the tour is scheduled.

In the event of a delay of more than 20 minutes, the museum reserves the right not to provide the service or to shorten it so that the visit end time remains unchanged.

Old Naval Medical School

What is the minimum and maximum number of members in a group?

Can we picnic at the museum?

The museum does not have a picnic area.
