Groups

Groups are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the visit.

In the event of a delay of more than 20 minutes, the museum reserves the right not to provide the tour, or to shorten it so that the end time remains unchanged.

A group must include at least 15 people and cannot include more than 30, including supervisors.

Only public-law organisations may pay after the visit.

You can have a picnic outdoors, in the Parc à Boulets, or otherwise in front of the citadel (public space).

Individuals

Buying your ticket online guarantees you can enter at the time stated on your ticket. However, you can also buy your ticket at the ticket desk without booking in advance.

Tickets cannot be returned or exchanged,, regardless of the purchase channel.

Please check your spam/junk folder. If you can't find anything, you can contact the museum team at contact(@)musee-marine.fr. Please include the name and first name used for the purchase, as well as the date, time and number of tickets bought, along with the amount paid if possible.

Your ticket is valid for 1 hour after the start of the time slot purchased, and some flexibility may be allowed over the course of the day. However, in the event of high visitor numbers, priority will be given to visitors with a ticket for the correct time slot.

Printing is not compulsory. However, you must be able to show your ticket (not the purchase confirmation) either on your mobile or on paper. The ticket must have a QR code or barcode.

Online, you can only pay by credit card (except AMEX). At the ticket desk you can pay in cash, by credit card (except AMEX), cheque, “chèque culture” vouchers, or “chèque vacances” ANCV vouchers (paper only).

Yes, the museum entry ticket includes both the permanent collections and the temporary exhibitions. Please also note that the ticket giving access to the citadel also includes a visit to the Musée de la Compagnie des Indes.

Allow around 1.5 hours on average to visit the whole museum (indoor and outdoor areas of the citadel). To also visit the Musée de la Compagnie des Indes, allow 2 hours in total.

The inside and outside of the citadel may not be suitable for visitors with a visual, mental or psychological disability. The indoor areas are accessible to people with a motor or hearing impairment. The outdoor areas of the citadel are difficult to access for visitors with reduced mobility or a visual impairment (slopes, paving, gravel courtyards, grassed areas, steps, etc.).

We strongly recommend coming accompanied.

Pushchairs are allowed if they are not too bulky. If yours is, pushchairs or baby carriers are available to borrow at the museum's ticket desk.

Crutches are allowed, as are walking sticks fitted with a rubber tip. Please note that the citadel has cobbled areas and the route can be difficult.

Wheelchairs and walking frames are available to borrow.

As the museum has no cloakroom, we ask you to come without suitcases or bulky items.

Only guide dogs for blind or visually impaired people are allowed.

The shop is located past the entrance gate and is not accessible without a ticket. For specific questions about the availability of an item, please contact the shop by emailing boutique.port-louis@musee-marine.fr or calling 02 97 82 56 72.

Audio guides can be obtained at the museum's ticket desk for a supplement of €2. They complement the text and information panels in the museum's galleries. Available languages are English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian.

There is no car park reserved for the museum, but the beach car park nearby is available (free). There is a car park for visitors with reduced mobility at the entrance to the citadel.
