Quick access
Groups
Groups are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the visit.
In the event of a delay of more than 20 minutes, the museum reserves the right not to provide the tour, or to shorten it so that the end time remains unchanged.
A group must include at least 15 people and can include up to 30, including supervisors.
The museum does not have a dining area, but there are outdoor spots nearby for a picnic (the garden in front of the museum, the Jardin de l'Académie de Marine).
Only public-law organisations may pay after the visit.
Individuals
Buying your ticket online guarantees you can enter at the time stated on your ticket. However, you can also buy your ticket at the ticket desk without booking in advance.
Please check your spam/junk folder. If you can't find anything, you can contact the museum team at contact(@)musee-marine.fr. Please include the name and first name used for the purchase, as well as the date, time and number of tickets bought, along with the amount paid if possible.
Tickets cannot be returned or exchanged, regardless of the purchase channel.
Printing is not mandatory. However, you must be able to show your ticket (not the purchase confirmation) either on your mobile or on paper. The ticket must have a QR code or barcode.
Your ticket is valid for 1 hour after the start of the time slot purchased, and some flexibility may be allowed over the course of the day. However, in the event of high visitor numbers, priority will be given to visitors with a ticket for the correct time slot.

Allow around 1.5 hours on average to visit the whole museum (indoor and outdoor areas of the castle).
The large number of steps in the museum and the castle makes access difficult for people with limited mobility, people with visual impairments, pregnant women, and the elderly.
The museum and the castle are not accessible to visitors in wheelchairs. Only the Madeleine Tower, which houses the reception areas and the gift shop, is accessible.
You can find the accessibility conditions here.
The museum does not have a dining area, but there are outdoor spots nearby for a picnic (the garden in front of the museum, the Jardin de l'Académie de Marine).
Only guide dogs for blind or visually impaired people are allowed.
The shop is located past the entrance gate and is not accessible without a ticket. For specific questions about the availability of an item, please contact the shop by emailing compta@musee-marine.fr or calling 02 98 22 12 39.
Audio guides can be obtained at the museum's ticket desk for a supplement of €2. They complement the text and information panels in the museum's galleries. Available languages are English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian.
There is a paid car park right in front of the museum, as well as a free car park about 200m away (Parc à chaînes). Spaces reserved for visitors with reduced mobility are available in the Préfecture Maritime car park; please ask staff at the entrance to the castle.
The museum is not accessible to pushchairs because of its many steps, and there is no cloakroom. Baby carriers (front-worn) can be borrowed at the museum's reception on request (back-worn carriers are not allowed, for the safety of the artworks).
Crutches are allowed, as are walking sticks fitted with a rubber tip.
As the museum has no cloakroom, we ask you to come without suitcases or bulky items.
