Online booking and purchasing

Do I have to reserve my ticket before coming to the museum?

Buying your ticket online ensures your admission at the time stated on your ticket. However, you can also get your ticket at the ticket office without prior purchase.

Online ticketing 

I bought my ticket online but I won't be able to go to the museum, can I get a refund?

Tickets are not returnable or exchangeable, regardless of purchase channel.

I bought my ticket online but I haven't received any confirmation or my tickets, what should I do?

Check your spam/junk mail. If you don't find anything, contact the museum team by emailing contact(@)musee-marine.fr. Please state the first and last name used for the purchase, as well as the date, time and number of tickets purchased with the corresponding amount if possible.

What payment methods are accepted online and at the ticket office?

Online, you can only pay by credit card (except AMEX). At the ticket office, you can pay in cash, by credit card (except AMEX), cheque, culture voucher or ANCV holiday voucher (paper only).

Am I entitled to free admission? At a reduced rate?

My arrival

I bought my ticket online, do I have to print it out?

Paper printing is not mandatory. However, you must be able to present your ticket (not the purchase confirmation) either on your mobile or on paper. The ticket must include a QR code or barcode.

Can I access temporary exhibitions with my museum ticket?

Yes, the museum ticket includes visits to permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

Are pets allowed in the museum?

Only guide dogs for the blind or visually impaired are allowed.

I’ve got a ticket for 3 p.m. but I'm late, can I come anyway?

Your ticket is valid for 1 hour after the beginning of the purchased timeslot; allowances may be made for the whole day. However, in the event of a large number of visitors, priority will be given to visitors who have a ticket for the correct slot.

Services

Is it possible to borrow audioguides?

The audioguide is 2€. Audioguides are picked up at the ticket office. Languages available are English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian.

Are pushchairs allowed in the museum? Can I come with a suitcase? Can I come on crutches?

The museum is not accessible to pushchairs due to its many steps, and does not have a cloakroom. Baby carriers can be borrowed at the museum reception desk upon request (back carriers are not allowed out of concern for the safety of works).

Crutches are allowed as well as rubber-tipped walking-sticks.

As the museum does not have a cloakroom, we ask you not to come with suitcases or bulky objects.

How long does the self-guided tour of the museum last?

Allow for an average of 1.5 hours to visit the whole museum (inside and outside the castle).

Is the museum accessible to people with reduced mobility?

The visit includes a great many steps, so the site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Work is underway in the Madeleine Tower to make part of the itinerary accessible.

Can we eat at the museum?

The museum does not have a restaurant but there are nearby outdoor areas available for picnics (garden in front of the museum and the Naval Academy Garden).

Can I access the shop without visiting the museum's collections?

The shop is located in a customs bonded area and is not accessible without a ticket. For any specific requests about an item’s availability, please contact the shop by emailing compta@musee-marine.fr or calling 02 98 22 12 39.

Is there a car park?

There is a paying car park just in front of the museum as well as a free car park about 200 metres away (Parc à Chaînes). Reserved spaces for people with reduced mobility are available in the Maritime Prefecture’s car park. Please ask the staff at the castle entrance.

What is the minimum and maximum number of members in a group?

A group must be made up of at least 15 people and can be up to 30 people, including accompanying persons.

Can I pay for my reservation after the visit?

Only public law entities can pay after the visit.

What time should I arrive for a group tour?

Groups are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the tour is scheduled.

In the event of a delay of more than 20 minutes, the museum reserves the right not to provide the service or to shorten it so that the visit end time remains unchanged.
